Mazatlán's Water Rescue Squadron warned beachgoers about the Mar de Fondo phenomenon that raises water levels and generates strong waves in the city's beaches. Through a video released, the squadron advises vacationers about this phenomenon that generates stronger and more continuous waves, which come from the open sea, generating return currents and elevation of the sea level on the shore, conditions that can represent a danger for those who enter to bathe. The hours for staying on Mazatlán's beaches are from 7 am to 7 pm and be aware of the indications or colors of the flags that are placed, according to the behavior of the sea. According to the recommendations issued, in case of being swept by a return current, it is essential to remain calm, not try to swim against the current, and move parallel to the beach until leaving the risk area. Also, the Water Rescue Squadron advises beachgoers that in case of requiring help to get out of the sea, ask the lifeguard closest to them, so that they, with their experience and equipment, can provide them with the necessary assistance.
