Mazatlán FC owner Ricardo Salinas Pliego spoke out for the first time about the team's disappearance in a message to the fans. He thanked the support of the project and regretted that the lack of guarantees led him to give up the franchise to Atlante. "Sometimes entrepreneurs have to take difficult decisions like this. When you can't guarantee security, legal certainty and minimum conditions for investment, you end up with jobs, opportunities and projects that gave life to cities", wrote the owner of TV Azteca. Mazatlán FC disappeared after its last home game, the penultimate game of its existence, as the regular phase of the Clausura 2026 concludes this weekend. The team was owned by Ricardo Salinas Pliego since its creation in 2018.
